The Best Coffee Shops in Condesa & Roma, CDMX

The neighborhoods of Condesa and Roma have quietly become one of the best coffee corridors in Latin America. Independent roasters, specialty bars, and community-minded cafés have planted themselves across these leafy streets — and the quality has never been higher. Whether you're after a pre-dawn flat white or a full afternoon of laptop work, here's where to go.
01. Quiasmo Coffee Bar
Ámsterdam 223, Hipódromo Condesa — Mon–Sun, approx. 6:30–17:00

If you want the best espresso actually inside Condesa, this is your answer. Quiasmo sits on the Ámsterdam oval and opens early enough to catch the neighborhood before it wakes up. The space is calm and well-proportioned, with wall seating, good natural light, and enough power outlets that settling in with a laptop doesn't feel like a fight. The oat flat white has a following for a reason. This is a morning and afternoon spot — they typically close around 5pm.
02. Compay Café
Altata 9, Hipódromo Condesa / Durango 65, Roma Norte — Mon–Sun, 7:30–15:00
Compay started as a newspaper kiosk on the corner of Córdoba and Durango in 2019 — no name, just good coffee. It's grown since then, but the soul of the thing hasn't changed much. The founder Ian "Compay" Infante came to coffee through live music, and that creative restlessness still runs through the place.
The standout order is anything made with their house piloncillo-and-spice honey — a blend they cook and filter in-house. It adds a warm, balanced sweetness to flat whites, lattes, and cappuccinos that feels a little like café de hoya, but cleaner. They also produce their own merch and have become known for collaborations with roasters where the coffee and the apparel are designed together as a single concept. Two locations, both closing at 3pm, so plan accordingly.
03. CUMBÉ Coffee Roasters
Monterrey 82, Roma — Daily, 8:00–20:00 (until 21:00 Thu–Sat)
CUMBÉ is the best option if you need to be somewhere for most of the day. The roastery does Australian-style service — long blacks, flat whites, cold brews — with the seriousness you'd expect from a place that also roasts its own beans. There's a rooftop terrace, reliable Wi-Fi, power outlets, and vegan-friendly pastries. A short walk from Condesa, easily paired with Quiasmo in the morning and CUMBÉ in the afternoon.
04. Almanegra Café
Zacatecas 180, Roma Norte — Daily, approx. 7:30–21:00
A minimalist specialty bar that coffee nerds tend to discover early and return to often. Almanegra keeps the focus tight: exceptional espresso and filter coffee, clean space, no noise. One of the more flexible options on this list given the late closing time, and the neighborhood around it is worth the walk anyway.
05. Cara de Taza Café
Jalapa 62, Roma Norte — Mon–Thu, 8:00–20:00 / Fri, 8:00–21:00
Small, cosy, and single-minded about espresso. Cara de Taza doesn't try to do everything — it does coffee well and doesn't apologize for keeping the menu lean. Locals who care about quality consistently put this one near the top of any CDMX list.
Quick Reference
Quiasmo opens earliest (from 6:30). CUMBÉ is best for all-day work sessions. Compay has the most community soul and the most interesting house menu. Almanegra and Cara de Taza are your best bets for pure espresso focus. Always verify hours before you go.
