Diego coordinates volunteer builds where soil was once only concrete. His projects are modest by skyline standards — trellises, compost, a bench — but he measures success in neighbors who learn each other’s names.

If you want peace in a city, plant something where strangers must share water.

How does a garden start here?

With permission, patience, and someone willing to carry soil up stairs. Always stairs.

What breaks your heart?

When we confuse “development” with erasure. Green can be luxury — but it should not be only luxury.

What gives you hope?

Kids who think cherry tomatoes are candy because they picked them ten meters from their door.
